House Projects is a series of 7 individual events that will take place over a period of 5 months, the intention of which is to address major concerns and trends in current agendas of contemporary art practice, while also questioning the idea of its audience and the encounter. In every event there will be a combination of International and Irish artists, critics and curators.
It will be launched with Boast of Quietness- Opening 6 - 8 pm, 10th May 2007, at 63, Home Villas, Donnybrook, Dublin 4.
An exhibition of work by Anna Barham (UK), Rhona Byrne (IRL), Mark Clare (IRL), Dave Dyment (CAN), Roula Partheniou (CAN) and Sonia Shiel (IRL). In its selection of practices the show is interested in creating a play between the private and the public. 'Boast of Quietness' is concerned with the validity of the personal and the origin of the spectacular.
House Projects was conceived to capitalise on a professional peer network that pools individual and combined resources to create an arsenal of inter-disciplinary discourse between practitioners and audiences. It has appointed curators, artists and critics' combined resources to stage events, exhibitions and informal talks in a variety of homes. Rather than bringing art to the public by exporting the artists into the field, as with much contemporary social-based art and events, House Projects will invite the public into the artist's community and each event will respond to the 'home turned venue' of a variety of art practitioners involved. In every event there will be a combination of International and Irish artists, critics and curators.
