House Projects was a series of seven exhibitions spanning five months over four cities, three countries, and two continents; with the participation of seven coordinators/curators, forty-nine artists and eight writers. Self-initiated by practitioners outside of the resources of an institutional venue, it was conceived as an interdisciplinary collaboration and discourse between artists, curators and critics, intended to eschew established or hierarchical roles.
House Projects’ ambition was to explore alternative spatial and temporal relationships between artist and site, artworks and audience, the private and the public. The model of delivery for the project - small exhibitions on an international scale - was based upon the recognition of the role of the peer-to-peer audience, the local audiences on an international scale who act as the initial point of reception and discourse prior to the wider dissemination of artistic practices.
